\section{Related Works}

This related works section is intended to represent systems, works,
designs, etc. related to providing interfaces for anonymous or
pseudo-anonymous systems. The following are examples.

\subsection{Anonymous Remailers}

More than a couple websites provide web users with an interface to
anonymous remailers. An example can be found at:
http://www.learjet.demon.co.uk/cpremailer.html.  The idea of these
interfaces is to make the use of anonymous remailers relatively
simple. Users must only enter an email address and some document
text, and the interface takes care of sending the information to an
Anonymous remailer. These interfaces are somewhat similar to the user
interface of Free Haven.

Interfaces to anonymous remailers provide about the same degree of
anonymity to the users as the user interface to Free Haven. That is,
as long as the communications link and the CGI server processing
requests are trusted, then the user can be assured of anonymity in
both anonymous remailers and Free Haven's user interface. With both
interfaces, packet sniffers operating on the communication medium will be
able to capture, read, and learn similar information from information
passed to the servers. In addition, the servers will have at their
disposal network information about the user such as IP address, etc.
A malicious server in both cases can very easily link information to
an IP address and from there potentially to users.

\subsection{Anonymizer.com}

Anonymizer.com\footnote{``Anonymizer.com,'' 14 May 2000
$<$http://www.anonymizer.com/3.0/index.shtml$>$.} provides a very
interesting service to internet users browsing the web. They make web
page viewing anonymous. Anonymizer.com acts like a firewall for your
internet browsing. They are expected to remove all personal
information, including IP addresses, from web page requests.
Anonymizer.com also provides a URL Encryption service in which a
user's web browsing can be hidden from ISP's or governments. Their
solution, however, is only anonymous if their service is never
compromised by outside agents.
